My name is John Horlander, and I am currently living in Tulsa, Oklahoma and working for FC Tulsa, a professional soccer team that plays in the USL Championship. I am a member of the club’s Communications and Digital team, where I coordinate the club’s home and away television broadcasts, write and edit press releases and website content, assist with social media management as well as video and photo production.
I am a graduate of the University of Notre Dame class of 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. While in school, I majored in Film, Television, and Theatre as well as Spanish with a minor in Journalism, and I was a broadcaster for WVFI Sports Radio and a show host and analyst at NDtv at Notre Dame.
I attended Saint Xavier High School in Louisville, Kentucky from 2011-2015, and after graduating I attended the University of Dayton in Ohio for one year. There, I was a student broadcaster for Flyer TV and Flyer Radio, covering basketball, soccer, and baseball. I transferred from Dayton after my freshman year to come to Notre Dame, where I have continued my work in broadcasting, but I have also diversified myself and familiarized myself with many other forms of mass media.
I worked in Louisville during the summer of 2018 as a Public Relations and Broadcasting intern with USL Soccer Club Louisville City FC. I was a guest on “Soccer City Radio,” a radio talk show about the team and news surrounding it. I was the color commentator for two matches in the USL regular season, and I operated numerous social media channels on the club’s behalf.
